M167 and M163 SP Towed Vulcan Air Defense System (VADS)

The M167 Vulcan Air Defense System (VADS) was a towed short-range United States Army anti-aircraft gun designed to protect forward area combat elements and rear area critical assets. It was also used to protect U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army airfields.

Paratroopers from the 82nd ABN DIV conduct air defense training with Egyptian forces during Exercise Bright Star. If you listen closely you can hear the whine of the remote-controlled target drone’s engine.
